English Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a blue shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width a knight in white armor bearing a yellow shield at his right shoulder astride a white rearing horse festooned in yellow tack, below the arching inscription “CUMBERLAND” in yellow letters

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A silver color metal and enamel vertical oval device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall bearing a knight astride a rearing horse silver between the inscription “REACHING FOR” above and “THE SKY” below all in silver letters.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Blue and gold are the school colors. The knight alludes to the school mascot, “CUMBERLAND DUKES”, after the Duke of Cumberland, the namesake of the county and school.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Blue and gold are the school colors. The knight alludes to the school mascot “CUMBERLAND DUKES” and reflects the admirable civic qualities of the Duke of Cumberland for whom the school is named.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was approved on 24 May 1996. The Shoulder Loop Insignia approved 24 May 1996 was amended to correct the color 28 January 2004.
