Province (Landskap): Lappland (and parts of Ångermanland, Jämtland)
County (Län): Västerbottens län
Additions :
Incorporated into : 1974-1980 Åsele

Arms (crest) of Dorotea

Official blazon

I fält av guld en röd björn med blå beväring, därest dylik skall komma till användning, och däröver en röd ginstam belagd med en krona av guld.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 23, 1945. The Crown symbolises Queen Frederika Dorotea Vilhelmina, wife of King Gustaf IV Adolf, for which Dorotea was named.
The Bear symbolises that in 1945 when the Arms was approved, Dorotea housed the largest Bear Population in Sweden.
