Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 16, 1978.

The griffin is taken from the arms of the medieval Bavarian dynasty of Formbach-Neuburg. The county Formbach-Neuburg inluded large parts of present Austria including the area around Enzenkirchen. In 1248 the possessions became part of Bayern.

The chief shows three balls, the symbol of St. Nicholas, the local patron saint.
