ERLIGHEIM

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Ludwigsburg

Wappen von Erligheim/Arms (crest) of Erligheim
Official blazon
German In Silber eine bewurzelte grüne Erle, der Stamm beheftet mit einem steigenden roten Mond mit Gesicht.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 8, 1980.

The oldest arms of Erligheim date from 1634 on a border stone, and show a letter E in a shield. On a stone in the townhall from 1751 the present arms appeared. The arms show canting alder tree (Erle) and a crescent. The crescent is derived from the arms of the Lords of Bönnigheim, as the village historically belonged to the Estate and city of Bönnigheim.

In 1913 the local council adopted the arms without the crescent. These arms remained in use until 1980.
