Incorporated into : 1977 Ath

Armoiries de Ghislenghien

Official blazon

D'azur à deux dauphins d'or placés en pal en tournés à dextre.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 16, 1926.

The arms show two heraldic dolphins. The dolphins are already used on the seals of the local council since the 16th century. They are derived from the older arms of the local abbey, founded in 1126. The origin of the dolphins, however, is not known.
