Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted on July 13, 1965 and are canting, showing a wool-comb (Hechel).

The history of the arms is rather complicated. The comb appeared for the first time as arms in 1547 in a book and in 1667 on a map of the area.

In 1914 Walter Merz proposed arms based on the arms of the Beromünster abbey, to which the village historically belonged, with an additional star in the lower right half. These arms were also shown in the Coffee Hag albums.

After the Second World War the municipality started to use the comb again, but with an additional flax flower. The flower was again removed in 1965.
