The wavy field represents two river dams which are almost on the outskirts of the town; the miners' hammers are a pun: havíř means a miner and Havířov is a home of miners. The rose was taken from the city arms of [[Ostrava]] where most of the inhabitants of Havirov go to work. The rose stands for the local horticultural plant, the largest in the country. It also symbolizes the town blooming.
 
The tinctures of the chief, blue and gold, are taken from the arms of the former duchy of Tešin on which territory Havirov was built.
