Origin/meaning

The arms were registered in 1975 after the merger with Gäsene.

The wheat ears in the first and fourth quarter are derived from the arms of the local governor from 1756. The goose is taken as a canting symbol for Gäsene (Gås=goose), as the old seals of this town showed a goose since the 15th century (the municipality had no official arms). The cross symbolises the importance of the city as a railway junction.
