Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on November 14, 1988. The arms combine the man from the previous arms (see below), with the grouse from the arms of Halverde and the steps from Schale. The previous arms were granted on December 4, 1969: The man is a so-called Hopstener Tödden, a typical tradesman from the area, who generally travelled and traded in the Netherlands.
