Origin/meaning

In 1969 the Town Council of Mezibori asked to design armorial bearings for the town which was founded a few years previously as a commuter town for the Most coal basin in North-West Bohemia. The new town was situated in the forests at the foot of Krusne Mountains and the name suggests that it lies "between the forests".

The design shows a silver pale between two green ones, having in the centre a red sun charged with a golden letter M. The pale between two green ones reflects the geographical position of the town; the glowing sun stands for its bright future, while the letter M is the initial letter of the town's name.

Originally crossed hammers and a retort in the chief of the green field were added to symbolize the industry of the region but these charges were not approved by the Town Council.
