NOVILLE

Canton : Vaud

Armoiries de Noville (Vaud)

Official blazon

D'azur au griffon d'or, armé et lampassé de gueules.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in 1919.

The meaning or origin of the griffin is not known. The griffin appears for the first time on a seal from 1783 and used until 1832.

One explanation for the griffin is that it is a misinterpretation of the arms of the 15th century Leydier family in the village, which showed a dragon.
