The arms are largely based on the arms of the medieval Lords of Prez. They used the divided shield with the demi-lion. Origin/meaning
The arms are largely based on the arms of the medieval Lords of Prez. They used the divided shield with the demi-lion. The family is known from the 12th century and was quite influential in large parts of (now) Fribiourg and Bern cantons until the 16th century. As the family does no longer exist, the arms could be adopted by the municipality. To further distinguish the arms, a cross, for the local chapel devoted to the Holy Cross (1770), was added.
