Reichsgau Sudetenland

REICHSGAU SUDETENLAND (Sudentengau, Říšská župa Sudety)

The Reichsgau Sudetenland was the name of those parts of Czechoslovakia which were annexed by Nazi-Germany between 1939-1945.

Czech Halbgespalten und geteilt; oben vorn in Rot ein schwarzer, silbern bewehrter Adler, oben hinten von Silber und Schwarz gespalten und belegt mit einem rot, bzw. silbern bewehrten Adler, dessen rechte Hälfte schwarz mit silberner Mondsichelspange und dessen linke Hälfte von Silber und Rot geschacht; unten in Rot ein silbernes Schräggitter.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 9, 1940.

The arms show in the upper part the eagle of the Přemyslid dynasty in a simplified and stylised form, besides an eagle combined of the eagle of Silezia and Moravia.

The lower half is taken from the arms of the city of Eger.
