SANKT ANNA AM AIGEN

State : Steiermark
District : Südoststeiermark (until 2015 Feldbach)
Additions : 2015 Frutten-Gießelsdorf

Wappen von Sankt Anna am Aigen / Arms of Sankt Anna am Aigen

Official blazon

Im blauen Schild ein aufgerichteter, silberner Steinbock, der in seinen Vorderläufen ein goldenes Patriarchenkreuz vor sich hält.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 15, 1952 and again on December 1, 2015.

The ibex refers to a topographical name in the municipality. The patriarchal cross is a remembrance to Andreas Frühwirth, Cardinal and Poenitentiarius Maior of the Church (first half of the last century), who was born in St. Anna. In his Cardinal's arms he bore the Styrian panther, holding a patriarchal cross.
