Official blazon

Shield: Argent, on a stylized mountain range Teal issuant from a base embattled Gules edged of the first and charged with a snake gliding Or, a sword Gris garnished Celeste and a lightning bolt Tenné fimbriated of the first in saltire.
Crest: That for regiments and separate battalions of the Idaho Army National Guard: From a wreath Argent and Teal, an elk's head caboshed Proper.
Motto: Ad capulum (To the hilt)

Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall blazoned as follows: Teal, a sword Gris garnished Celeste and a lightning bolt Tenné in saltire in chief three mullets Vert fesswise and on a base embattled Gules a snake gliding Or. Attached below a Teal scroll inscribed "AD CAPULUM" in Silver.


Origin/meaning

The lightning blot symbolises the Brigade's electronic communication capabilities. The Dagger / Bayonet symbolises the Military Intelligence and refer to the covert and aggresive requirement of the combat Team. The embattled base denotes the Unit's lineage, originating in the 116th Engineer Battalion. The Snake allude to the Snake River and the Mountain Range to the Sawtooth Mountains, both Idaho landmarks. The Stars in the Distinctive Unit Insignia if from the Flag of Iraq, alluding to the participation in "Operation Iraqi Freedom".

The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 19 June 2007.
