Attached below the device a blue designation scroll inscribed "VIGILANCE AND HONOR" in Silver letters.

The Buffalo respresents the strength derived for the personnel making up the Battalion. The Bend Sinister symbolises the 3rd Brigade. The Lightning Flash and North Star symbolises Intelligence Collection, Signal Capailities and Worldwide delopyability.
The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia, was both approved on 23 December 2005.
