Origin/meaning
The arms are those of Verran, adopted by th enew municipality in 2020.
The previous arms were granted on March 8, 1957 and again on March 14, 1964.
The original meaning of the star was that 6 main roads crossed in Steinkjer. After the municipal reorganisation the arms were re-granted, but the meaning has slightly changed. Steinkjer now formed the centre of the municipality and the points are directed to the 6 other villages in the municipality : Beitstad, Egge, Kvam, Ogndal, Sparbu and Stod.
Literature: Norwegian Municipal Network and Norske Kommunevåpen, Kommunalforlaget, 1987.
