Origin/meaning
Green and yellow are the colors of Jefferson High School. The demi-sun radiant, suggested by the sun on the State flag of California, alludes to the geographic location of the school. It further represents the striving for excellence in academic, physical endeavors and in military science. The sword is indicative of the military and also alludes to leadership. The red color refers to courage.
The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was approved 2 July 1980. The Shoulder Loop Insignia was originally approved 20 November 1931. It was amended on 10 May 1976 to add a Motto Scroll. It was authorized for Jefferson High School on 4 October 1979.
