The Ship carries the arms of the Namegiver Willem Bloys van Treslong (ca. 1529-1594) Admiral of Holland and Zeeland. Also leader of the so called "Sea Beggars" who captured the Town of Brill in South Holland from the Spanish in 1572. The badge was approved 6 February 1978.
