The badge is based on the Arms of Egbert Meeuwsz Kortenaer (1605-1665), Admiral of the Maas Admirality. He served in the Navy from 1626 to 1665, killed in Action at the Battle of Lowestoft on 13 June 1665. The badge was approved on 10 April 1952.

Doorsneden: I in goud een boom in natuurlijke kleur, ter weerszijden vergeezeld van een tegen de stam klimmende vos van keel, II. in keel een kruisboog rustend op twee schuinkruiste en gevederde pijlen alles van zilver.

Origin/meaning
