867TH RECONNAISSANCE SQUADRON, US AIR FORCE

History: Organized as 92 Aero Squadron on 21 Aug 1917. Demobilized on 21 Dec 1918. Reconstituted, and consolidated (1942), with 17 Reconnaissance Squadron (Light), which was constituted on 20 Nov 1940. Activated on 15 Jan 1941. Redesignated as: 92 Bombardment Squadron (Light) on 14 Aug 1941; 92 Reconnaissance Squadron (Medium) on 30 Dec 1941; 433 Bombardment Squadron (Medium) on 22 Apr 1942; 10 Antisubmarine Squadron (Heavy) on 29 Nov 1942; 867 Bombardment Squadron (Heavy) on 21 Oct 1943. Inactivated on 4 Jan 1946. Redesignated as 867 Reconnaissance Squadron on 9 Aug 2012. Activated on 10 Sep 2012. Trained for observation and bombardment, and later for night bombardment, 1918. Antisubmarine patrols, 28 Feb 1942-c. 30 Sep 1943. Combat training, Oct 1943-Oct 1944; combat in Western and Southwest Pacific, 3 Nov 1944-12 Aug 1945.
