Origin/meaning

The oak branch symbolizes the strength of Unit and is also a tribute to the city of Astorga where it is located. The scallop shell, symbol of the pilgrim, alludes to the ability to sacrifice. The checkered gules and silver alludes to the colors of Castilla-León. The Coat of Arms was approved on 19 June 2007.
