Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on August 1, 1967.
The bull's head and the bull and boar refer to the beef and pig industries with the rake and pitchfork alluding to agriculture within the Shire.
The pumpkin known as the Queensland Blue originated in Beaudesert, giving its name to the variety in its home state. The corn-stalks in the crest refer to hybrid maize which is grown in the district.
The wavy pale represents the many waterfalls in the Shire, while the Maltese Cross, a symbol of Christian unity, is also the State badge of Queensland, to which the Shire declares allegiance.
The natural beauty of the district is celebrated in the sun rising behind Mt Lindesay, a prominent landmark visible through most of the Shire.Literature:
