Origin/meaning
The arms are largely based on the former arms of Saintes.
The red background is the color of the Brie, the blue wavy bens symbolizes the river, the three wheels represent the water mills, the Wooded Brie region is represented below, the mantle and the sword are the symbols of Saint Martin the patron saint of Saints. The linden leaf represents the Beauthheil (Beau=tilleul or beautiful linden), the ears of wheat honor agriculture.
