Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on June 20, 1961.
The main charge in the arms was an ancient ship. The sails are charged with a beehive for industry and scallop shells for the coastal resorts of the area. The wavy chief charged with two dolphins is another reminder that the rural district was maritime.
The crest has a Rural crown, as granted to many rural district councils, within which is a mount on which stands an Aberdeen Angus bull.
