English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 8, 1952.
The arms are those of the last Lords of Hallaar, from the Ursel family. The family acquired the village in the 16th century.
Initially the council applied for the arms of the Beerthout family, who ruled the village until 1311. As there are more municipal arms with the Berthout arms, the heraldic council proposed the Ursel arms instead.
