NO 234 (MADRAS PRESIDENCY) SQUADRON, ROYAL AIR FORCE

History: Formed at Tresco, Scilly Isles in August 1918.

Official blazon

A dragon rampant gules winged and legged Or flames issuing from the mouth proper. Motto: Ignem mortemque despuimus

Origin/meaning

The Squadron was equiped with Spitfire Aircraft, here represented by the Dragon which spit fire. The Motto translates as ”We spit fire and death”. The Badge was approved in August 1940.
