History: Formed on Malta in August 1918.

A swallow soaring proper, holding in the claw a tomahawk sable.
Motto: Adjidaumo.

Origin/meaning

The Swallow is symbolic of Reconnaissance at varying Heights and is common to the Mediterranean therby linking the location of the Unit and its role. The Tomahawk symbolises the Aircraft flown a the time of petitioning for the Badge. The Motto translates as ”Tail-in-the-air”. The Badge was approved in November 1941.
