No 824 Squadron, FAA

History: First formed in 1933 at Royal Naval Air Station Gosport (HMS Siskin), Hampshire as a Spotter-Reconnaissance Squadron. The Squadron served on HMS Eagle until she was sunk in April 1942. It now conducts Operational Flight Training on Helicopters at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose (HMS Seahawk), Cornwall.

Origin/meaning

Herons (Egrets) are found throughout the Far East and alludes to the Squadron's service in that Area. The Latin Motto transaltes as "The Wind everywhere looks on". The badge was approved on 8 April 1937.
