Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted on May 30, 2023.
This arms contain different elements of the coats of arms of families having owned the lordship of the place, or having marked its history.
The central shield is that of the De Longroy family. At the beginning of the 14th century, Jacques de Longroy became Lord of Prouzel. His grandson, also named Jacques, adviser and chamberlain to the Duke of Burgundy, died in 1415 fighting at Agincourt.
The eagle is taken from the arms of the Le Sellier family. The lordship of Prouzel was acquired in 1490 by Jean Le Sellier.
The cross is taken from the arms of the Gaillard family. Louis-Joseph Gaillard de Boëncourt, president of the Présidial d'Abbeville, became lord of Prouzel in 1777. Louis-Charles Gaillard became mayor of Prouzel from 1807 to 1830. Jean-Gustave Gaillard left the estate to his niece, wife of General de Lamoricière , who became famous in 1847 for having received the submission of Abd-El-Kader. The shell is taken from the arms of the general, who retired to Prouzel in 1860 and died there five years later.
The fretted small bar is taken from the arms of the De L'Epine family. The Prouzel estate was acquired in 1881 by Alphonse de l'Epine (1835-1925), General Councilor of the Somme.
The chief refers to the Selle, a river that flows through Prouzel.
