The Bear is from the Arms of Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Main Celebrnt at the consecration of the Archbishop. The Fleur-de-Lys is from the Arms of Mundelein Seminary where the Archbishop Studied and Teached. The Phoenix alludes to Chicago, and the Rebuilding of the city after the devastating Fire in 1871.
