The red and silver points are the historical arms of the Franken region and thus are a canting element. They also refer to the historical ties to Franken. The trees on the hill simply refer to the geographical conditions, the area is hilly and heavily forested with pine and spruce (unlike most of Thuringia, which is planted with oak and beech). They also refer to the Bioshphere Conservation Area of the Rhön.
