===Origin/meaning===
The name Shawinigan derives from the Algonquin word Ashawenikan, meaning “portage on the crest”, symbolized here by the chevron shape. The blue colour represents the calm river above the waterfalls, which are indicated by the white. The lightning flashes are taken from the arms of Shawinigan and the fleurs-de-lis is taken from its flag, but multiplied by four to recall the flag of the province of Quebec.
The French Motto translates as “Do well what you are doing”.
The Canadian Heraldic Authority confirmed the Blazon of the Badge on December 15, 2009.
