The city wall and church represent the impressive churches in Prenzlau and Angermünde, as well as the formerly many monasteries in the district. The area was a border area and many forts were established in the district in the Middle Ages. The two small shields show the arms of Brandenburg (eagle) and [[Pommern]] (griffin), as the area historically belonged to these tow States. The wavy bars represent the Oder, Randow and Ucker rivers in the district.

The two round windows represent the Uckerkreis and the Stolpinische Kreis, two ditricts that existed from medieval times until 1816. In 1816 a new angermünde district was formed, and the three windows represent the three districts for that era.
