The village is know for its sulphur containing mineral springs. In 1319 the spa was enlarged and finally Abbot Otto Prasner of the Fürstenzell Abbey, to which the village belonged, built the large stone bathing houses in the town in 1783. The arms were granted in 1957 and show a medieval bath tub in the base. The other symbols are derived from the arms of Abbot Otto. The colours are those of the arms of the Fürstenzell Abbey.
