The arms are based on the oldest seal of the village, dating from 1761. The bagpipes (gajdy) are a unique symbol in Slovak heraldry. Th eorigin of the symbol is not known; there are two possible explanations. the first is that the arms are canting for the sound of the bagpipe, which is Slovak is named jačanie. The other is that in old documents the family name Gajdoš appears for people in the village. Both are historically not proven.
