History: First formed in 1943  at Raoyl Naval Air Station Eglinton (HMS Gannet), Northern Ireland, as a Fleet Fighter Squadron for HMS Indomitable with Grumman Hellcats. The Squadron served in Ceylon and disbanded in the Far East in 1945.
