The Role of the Group was Operational Training, shown by Daedalus rising to indicate training of Air Crew to full operational Standard. Daedalus is also part of the Badge of the RAF College located at Cranwell and therefore alludes to the location of the Group. The Astral Crown symbolises the RAF. The Motto translates as "Tomorrow the sky". The Badge was approved in June 1948.
