The original arms for Mogilno, however, showed three crosses, and not three swords. The three crosses represent the Benedictines - the first settlers. Mogilno was then a property of the Benedictines so the three crosses seam to be very natural and logical symbol for the town. <br/>

During the centuries different versions of the arms existed, with crosses, lillies and swords. The image as shown above was used in the 19<sup>th</sup> century, and remained in use until 1990. In 1990 the arms were changed back to the three crosses.
