The bordure is the common symbol of all Verbandsgemeinde in de Bad Dürkheim district. The four municipalities in the Verbandsgemeinde wanted to be represented with (elements of) their arms in the arms of the Verbandsgemeinde. The lion and W represent the town of Wachenheim, the image of St. Martin represents Gönnheim, the tree is taken from the arms of Ellerstadt and the castle from Friedelsheim.
