At that day Duke Maximilian of Bayern, as stadtholder of Oberösterreich, held a court in which 36 people from the region, who were involved in an uproar, were condemned to death, but half could be spared by gambling with dice in pairs. The losers were executed, the winners freed. | |||
The squirrel in the lower half is taken from the arms of the Vorster family, an important local family. Originally forest rangers (Förster) in the Frankenberg estate, they became one of the most influential noble families in the area in the 16th century. | |||
