Heidingsfeld received city rights in 1367 from Emperor Karl IV and was part of Bohemia at the time. The oldest known seal dates from 1381 and shows the lion of Bohemia above the Main river and under a Gothic portal. The composition of this seal was granted as arms on June 7, 1837. In the early 19th century the lion was temporarily removed from the seals.
