Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on November 28, 1993.

The arms combine (elements of) the arms of four noble families of Breuillet:Gua Roche Breuillet (I), Aulnis (II), François d'Aiguyeres (III) and De Verthamon (IV).

The open book symbolises the history of the town related to Catholicism and Protestantism, showing the church of St Vivien and the temple.
