The arms were adopted on April 22, 1953.

The arms have been used since the early 19<sup>th</sup> century. The wing is probably derived from the arms of the former Amt Schenkenberg, the origin of the star and mountain is not clear.  
I have no information on the meaning or origin of these arms. Any information is welcome.
