Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 11, 1938.

The chevrons are taken from the arms of the County Ravensberg , to which the area historically belonged. Versmold was already since the 14^th century the seat of a court in the Ravensberg county, which is symbolised by the sword of justice.
