Origin/meaning

The first field contains the Bohemian lion as the modern region contains territory of the historical region.

The second field is split per pale. The first half contains a red rose symbolizing the house of Rožumberk, which played a great role in the region's history and development. The second half aludes to the lords of Hradec, who owned vast estates in the east as well as the Moravian lads that belong to the region.

The third field is green, pointing to the region's abundant forests and natural wealth. The golden half of the pale represents the Golden Road, a trade path leading through the region from Bohemia to Passau in Bavaria. The silver half of the pale represents the spring of the river Moldau (Vltava).

The fourth field contains the arms of České Budějovice sans the Bohemian lion inescutcheon.
