Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 15, 1955.
The birch tree refer to a local legend on a battle near a birch tree (Völkerschlacht der Zukunft am Birkenbaum).
The key is the symbol of St. Peter, patron saint of the State of Köln, to which the area historically belonged.
