ROTHRIST
Canton : Aargau
Official blazon
In Rot über grünem Dreiberg gewendete weisse Pflugschar, im Schildhaupt begleitet von zwei fünfstrahligen weissen Sternen.
Origin/meaning
The plough is a symbol of the agricultural character of the municipality. The two stars represent the former villages of Oberwil and Niederwil before they merged into Rothrist. The base shows a mountain, symbol of the forested hills of the area.
The red colour is a canting element (Rot=red) and is derived from the red colour of the local conifer or spruce, the Rottanne (red-pine) or Fichte.
