Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on February 17, 1491 by Duke Heinrich von Münsterberg to the city at the same time as the city rights. The double bi-coloured eagle is the arms of the Duchy of Münsterberg. The escutcheon is the arms of the Duke himself, with the first and fourth quarter the arms of the county Glatz and the second and third the arms of the Lordship Kunstadt. The miner's tools behind the eagle indicate the importance of gold mining for the town at the time. The arms thus have not changed since.
Hupp showed the same image, but with some small differences on the eagle in the Kafee Hag albums.
