Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 11, 1938.

The chevrons are taken from the arms of the County Ravensberg, to which the area historically belonged. Versmold was already since the 14^th century the seat of a court in the Ravensberg county, which is symbolised by the sword of justice.
